Easy and delicious Homemade Taco Seasoning. You possibly have all the ingredients in your pantry now!

Easy taco seasoning

We go through a whole lot of taco seasoning. It’s kind of crazy. Mexican food is by far my favorite type of food. I think it’s the spices and all the flavors that I love. There are tons of recipes I use taco seasoning in, therefore, I am always buying those packets of seasoning.

When I thought about it, I realized buying those packets all the time can definitely add up. They’re around $1.00 a piece! Plus, who knows what’s really inside of them. Not that I’m the most health conscience person in the world, but when there’s ways to save money AND make food a little healthier, I’m all for it.

Homemade Taco Seasoning

That being said, I tried homemade taco seasoning and was amazed at:

A) How ridiculously easy it was to make.

B) I had all 5 ingredients in my spice cupboard already.

C) It tasted exactly like the packet version. Exactly.

I imagine you all have the 5 spices needed to make this awesome taco seasoning right now. Give it a whirl, I bet you’ll love it and won’t notice a difference from the packet seasoning. 🙂

  1. Thanks for sharing. I’ve made Taco Seasoning in the past but mine is chunkier than yours because of the Crushed Red Pepper. Mine has big seeds and flakes. Can you tell me what kind of crushed red pepper you used? Thanks.

  2. This is fantastic! I always forget to buy the packets when I’m making tacos etc unless I buy the full kit. You’re awesome for sharing. Made my day!x

  3. I started making my own and will never buy the packets again! I add a teensy bit of sugar and some oregano to mine and store in a mason jar with a parmesan cheese lid – makes it so easy to measure out. (: We love our Mexican foods, too!

  4. I think homemade is great! Especially when it’s so easy and they are common ingredients. Plus if you like or don’t like certain spices you can learn to adjust to suit your family rather than just going with is available out of the packet.

PS I use a similar mix for Chili lime rubbed meat and fish. Use just a little to sprinkle all over your protein and squeeze juice of a couple limes on and let it sit for 20 min before cooking. Awesome on shrimp or mahi mahi.
