GREAT SAUCE! Loved it, however, I really struggled to get this chicken to cook through. I’m following directions but I failed both times I tried. SO. For those who struggled like me, I decided to go the air fryer route. I pounded the chicken, coated with mayo then bread crumbs (I use kinder-amazing breading). Air fry at 390° for 8 mins, flip, 7 mins for the other side. USE THIS SAUCE it’s heavenly!

If you read the entire instructions, you would know that the chicken first cooks in the skillet, on both sides, before it goes in the oven to finish cooking. :)

It only needs about 10 minutes in the oven, about as long as it takes to make the sauce. I will update the recipe card with that time. :)

Hi Susan! Yes, that would work. The only negative thing about making the chicken in advance is that the chicken reheated won't be as crispy, but it will still be delicious. :)

Do you think it would work making the chicken the night before, and then warming it up the next day and adding the freshly made basil sauce? Any other suggestions on how to make this ahead of time? Thanks.

This is a great recipe. We are renovating and do not have an electric stove/oven right now. I have an old wood fired cookstove that I'm cooking on so i've been searching for recipes that i can adapt to our current situation. I used a cast iron skillet for this. Making the sauce was a challenge since there is no knob to control heat. the chicken in the cast iron was amazing!
