Easy and delicious homemade spaghetti sauce. Life-in-the-Lofthouse.com

Spaghetti used to be a meal I made once a week. I’d always go back to it because it was easy and everyone liked it. Then I was introduced to the world of food blogs, and started my own. Spaghetti got pushed to the side lines because of all the new recipes I was wanting to make. I honestly don’t think I had made it in over a year, until last week.

My Mom gave me an old cookbook that was made by her and the ladies in the Relief Society in our old church ward. They all had submitted their most tried and true recipes. I was so happy she gave it to me because I knew there would be some gems in there. When I saw this easy Spaghetti Sauce recipe, it had me craving Spaghetti all over again! I made it last week and it was exactly what I thought it would be… Perfect!

  1. I know what you mean about the spaghetti! I just made it Sunday for the first time in a long time. Your sauce looks good, I will have to try it!

  2. I’m a homemade spaghetti sauce fiend! The only thing I love more than making it is eating it. Is the flavor of the dried onion and garlic potent enough to come through in this recipe? Usually I sautee fresh.

  3. Madeleine, I’m sure using fresh would make this better! I just followed the recipe as written and it turned out wonderful! 🙂

  4. I have this recipe – got it about 20 years ago from my husband’s grandma. She made it for us and I was surprised at how good it was. I haven’t made it in a while. I think I will!

  5. What a great recipe for spaghetti sauce when you don’t want to chop onions…just quick to throw together and wait as it simmers and the house starts to smell wonderful. I love those old cookbooks!

  6. I just found you via The Country Cook and so glad I did. I look forward to looking at your recipes.

I love spaghetti/pasta sauces. This looks very good and a good base to start with if you want to experiment. Thank you! I will pin it and will be checking out pinterest.

  7. Could I replace the beef with ground turkey to make it a healthier option? I don’t mind cooking with beef because my boyfriend likes it, but curious if you’ve tried it.
