Happy Friday! I first have a quick announcement! My sweet friend Mandy over at Mandys Recipe Box has asked me to be a guest and post a recipe on her amazing blog tomorrow, Saturday March 5th! I am SO honored she would ask me to do this! I love Mandys blog so much. She is always cookin up my kind of food! I have made and posted so many of her recipes its ridiculous! So please, head over there tomorrow to check it out! While your there become a ‘Follower’ of hers so you never miss out on her great posts!

As for these sinful little treats, they are called ‘Hello Dolly Bars’, or ‘7 Layer Bars’. Whichever floats your boat. I think they should be called ‘Heaven Bars’, because they are a little piece of heaven! I am such a big fan of coconut! I think with coconut you either love it, or hate it. My hubby hates it. Dont ask me why. Heck, maybe you do too. But I dont. I cant get enough of it! : )  These bars also contain some chopped walnuts, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips (which I didnt use) over a graham cracker crust! Mmmmmm

I was too impatient to wait for them to cool after they came out of the oven, so I burned my tongue taking a bite : (  But dang, it was so worth it! These bars are my new best friend! Here’s how ya make em….

Hello Dolly Bars

16 bars

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter

  • 1 1/4 cups finely crushed graham crackers (about 7)

  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

  • 1 cup butterscotch chips ( I didnt use these)

  • 1 cup shredded coconut

  • 1 (14oz) can sweetened condensed milk

Directions:   Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place the butter in an 8×8 square glass baking dish and set it in the oven to let butter melt. (about 5 minutes)

Carefully take the hot dish out of the oven and sprinkle the graham cracker crumbs evenly over the melted butter. Then layer, in order, the nuts, choc chips, butterscotch chips, and coconut. Pour the milk slowly, and evenly over the top.

Bake for 30 minutes, cool, and then cut into bars!

  1. My mom made these all the time when I was growing up! I had forgotten about them…I may have to make some this weekend!!

  2. Mmmm I LOVE LOVE coconut! I’m a NUT for Coconut! Even my dog’s name is Coconut! How many times am I going to say Coconut? For sure adding this to my list of “to makes”…! Great photo too by the way! Oh and also heading over to Mandy’s to become a follower!

  3. My husband is the same – hates coconut. I don’t care, I make the stuff anyway. In fact, I just made a German Chocolate cake – with coconut frosting, thank you very much. I’ll eat the whole thing if I have to…lol.
These sound perfectly nummy to me!! Great bar to take to a potluck too.

  4. Perhaps we should start a support group for us whose hubby’s HATE coconut, lol!
I love these bars…but I use pecans…I love switching around this chips or using different combos…butterscotch, white chocolate, peanut butter, and of course…good ol’ chocolate!
    Great pic my friend!

  7. Amazing recipe once again! Of course, I’m not surprised. I wonder if you could sub marshmallows, for those who don’t like coconut? These look so great!

  8. Mandy I think marshmellow would be a great idea!! And Sig I love how you use all different kinds of chic chips! I wanna use white& peanut butter next time!

  9. I do remember these :-). I made a ton of them in my day. I’d forgotten how good they were until I saw your photo. I hope you have a great weekend. Blessings…Mary

  10. Holly, you are the best! Made these to take to my friend who just had back surgery to go along with the main course! Funny, I blogged about these too!

  11. These bars are so addictive…I’ve been making them for years and I can’t leave them on my counter or I will eat them every time I go in the kitchen. Great pics.
