I made this exact recipe for the first time in the late 70’s. They were great then and they’re still great. As each new generation comes along, they like them just as much: my 11 great-grandchildren are the current crop being introduced.

In reply to Barbara. Hi There Barbara. I think the idea behind the crockpot is that your heating up frozen meatballs. This could be done on the stove but would take a long, long time and you risk burning the sauce since it has quite a bit of sugar in it. If you were to make it on the stove I would suggest allowing the meatballs to thaw overnight in the fridge first.

This IS a great recipe! I’ve made these many times from the same recipe my mom shared with me a while back.
EVEN BETTER: Make them at least 1 day in advance and let them marinate over night in the fridge then heat back up – TO DIE FOR!!!

You can also sub jellied cranberry sauce for the grape jelly. We add about 1/4 cup of brown sugar when we sub the cranberry sauce – and it is delish.
