Warm Bean Dip is creamy refried beans mixed with sour cream and Mexican seasonings topped with mounds of gooey cheese. It’s the perfect appetizer to serve at any party or to devour at home! With only a 10 minute prep time you can have this bean dip in your belly in no time!

I originally posted this recipe back in February 2012, but recently came back to the recipe and was a little mortified by the pictures. I quickly came to the realization that the pictures weren’t doing this dip any justice- like at all.

This bean dip is so good and mouthwatering, I thought I better make some to devour and take new pictures while I was at it. I immediately whipped up a pan of and snapped new pictures (while simultaneously trying not to eat the entire thing before I even took one picture). haha.

I gotta say, I really like how they turned out! A definite improvement from what they were before!

My daughter Kelsey helped me with the photoshoot and every time I turned away for one second, she was digging into the dip! It goes to show how good it really is, I seriously couldn’t keep her out of it. 😄

I could go on forever listing all the reasons I love this incredible warm bean dip. It’s rich, full of amazing flavor and oh so creamy. Whenever I’m in need of a quick-to-make and tasty appetizer this recipe is my go-to. It’s SO easy to make and only requires 5 ingredients! If that alone doesn’t convince you to get in the kitchen and make this dip, then I don’t know what will!

  1. This looks amazing! My friends and I are bean lovers, haha, so we’ll have to try this one day. Unfortunately, I just had my gall bladder removed, though, so it’ll be a little while before I get to try it. Your recipes always look amazing!

    1. I had mine removed in 2007 and I am able to eat nearly everything. You will know what you can and can’t eat but it won’t be as horrendous as the symptoms you may have had WITH your gall bladder. Just wanted to give you something to look forward to…. PS Mine was removed the same time I had gastric bypass. It took a little longer for me to figure out what i could and couldn’t eat because of the bypass. Hang in there! 🙂

  2. I have to confess that I am not a football fan either…I like super bowl just for the food and commercials:-) And food like this dip is exactly why I like it!!!!

  3. I LOVE this! We actually call it ‘Man Dip’ because the picky men in our family can’t get enough of it.

  4. I make one similar but I use the fat free retried beans on top of the 1/3 less fat cream cheese & then put a jar of my favorite salsa on top of that & then a layer of 2% cheese. It’s yummy & a little lighter.

  5. My husband hates Mexican-ish food and especially any food with beans. It’s a really sad situation because those are my two favorite types of foods. That said, I made this tonight and he devoured it! Thanks!

  6. I just made this tonight and it’s AMAZING! I thought about adding some green onions and salsa but didn’t have it on hand. Might add those with it next time. Thanks for the recipe! It was super easy and delish!

  7. ^^^—- I was wondering the same. I’d imagine it wouldn’t take long for the cheese to start hardening after it gets out of the oven, unless you have enough people eating it fast enough to not have to worry about it, lol.

  8. I am trying this tonight for a side dish to our mexican meal.Looking like it is gonna turn out awesome.

  9. This is fantastic. I served it as an appetizer and there was not a drop left. I did use fat free re-fried beans and they worked great.

  10. I made this with things I had on hand today. It was delicious as a supper with a salad. Thank you. I posted a link to you on my blog. Thank you for sharing.

  11. Yum! Beans with lard and tons more lard in the form of regular and cream cheese and let’s not forget the lard filled sour cream!

Why not just scoop up some lard on a chip and call your doctor and tell him in a few years to schedule you for a triple bipass!

    1. Oh Wow – you obviously don’t understand how this all works – you “try” the recipe and then rate it. It’s not about posting mean comments. Loved to be invited to your house and then just say, “Oh I can’t eat THAT! It’s disgusting.” That’s basically what you are saying to this person. Are you always this mean spirited? Keep your mean comments to yourself. If it wasn’t something you cared for … move on. I could say a whole lot more on your comments but then … what’s the point … you prob. wouldn’t get it. Hope you don’t do this on other sites, too. My Mom would say …. Shame on you.

  12. This sounds great. I make one similar I just add a jar of salsa between the beans and the cheese. Awesome!

  13. This was very easy and good. The only note I have to add is to eat it while hot. The cheese solidifies and gets hard if left outside too long!

  14. Soooooo good and cheesy! To anonymous with nothing good to say – beans are full of fiber and protein. The cheeses and sour cream are full of calcium. True, there is lots of fat and calories, but for an occasional snack – too good to pass up. Guess your mother never told you that if you don’t have anything nice to say not to say anything at all.

  15. You can substitute plain yogurt for the sour cream. I’ve done this on a few occasions and it turns out great!

  16. I make something like this and hubby swears (after 17 years of marriage) its why he married me 🙂 I might have to tries yours though, mine has only beans, cream cheese, a little garlic powder and cheese. Thanks for posting, and I found you via pintrest!

  17. Made this tonight, soooo good. I think I’ll use half the cheese next time though, got a little rubbery as it cooled. I used fat free sour cream & low fat cream cheese & couldn’t tell a difference, it was still delicious!

  18. I made this recently and adapted mine from the same recipe on allrecipes.com! Too funny – I think I’m going to have to make it this weekend…your pictures are making my mouth water! Feels so good to be back blogging!

  19. I just made this for the Steelers came…like you I am taking football season to make some great dips. This turned out FANTASTIC I instantly had to follow this great blog. I recently started my food blog in march and its slowly getting some views. I would love if you would look at it and share any comments. Thanks for the awesome recipe!!

  20. Ha Ha I went and bought the ingredients and I scroll down to the comments and low and behold I bought the same exact ingredients you have pictured Lol great infant think alike

  21. One year ago today, you posted this amazing recipe. About 6 months ago, a friend introduced it to me at her housewarming/Pinterest party. Today? I am making it for myself for the Super Bowl and I. CAN’T. WAIT. Thank you!!

  22. I made this then realized I didn’t have any chips on hand. I wrapped it up in a tortilla, similar to bean and cheese burrito. Very good, I’ve made this before and it is great as a dip also.

  23. I saw this recipe in Pinterest, and had to try it. Unfortunately, I forgot my shopping list at home, so I bought what I could remember and altered the recipe a bit when I got home. Was still super yummy! Thank you for the inspiration! I tagged your recipe on my blog since your recipe is what inspired mine… I hope that is okay. 🙂

  24. And, and….. To take it up a notch, should care to……ready?
Add a can of crumbled up tamales before you put in oven…..lol

    1. 5 stars
Yay!! Great idea! What do you think about a sprinkle of crumbled fresca queso cheese (did I say that rifht?)after it’s baked… just for a little added eye candy.

  25. Made this last night for Halloween to go with our traditional tortilla soup. Everyone loved it and I loved how easy it was! Thank you!

  26. I have made this a o many times since fin ding your recipe. It quickly became a family favorite. My husband asks for it. Thank you!!!!!!

  27. Looks yum!!! I want to make it as part of a birthday party & I’m trying to do as much prepping as possible. Do you think I can assemble this the night before but wait till baking it till before the party?

    1. Not sure if you missed my question but is like to make this for a party tom but can I assemble it tonight, cover & bake it tom?

  28. This looks like one of those party hits! I have 3 questions – 1) will this “stay” ok in oven for a while? 2) any tips on how to keep warm while people are eating it? 3) one person said that it hardened as it cooled – she used low fat cheese – would that matter (because I want to use low fat, as well).

    1. mrscat2013- You can keep it warm in a crock pot on a warm or low setting… And it can stay in the oven as long as the oven is a very low temp.. Like 175-200° F. Hope this helps!

  29. Made this last Sunday at 5 pm ,, the hole thing was gone bye 6 pm an there were only 5 of us 🙂 sooo good,,I added a couple chopped scallions to this for a little onion kick

  30. 4 stars
We make one that is Similar. It is called Carrington’s bean dip. The only difference is that my recipe has olives and tobasco sauce in it. You can spice it up a little and its still so yummy!

  31. My family loves this recipe! We halved this for our small gathering and it was still amazing! thank you for posting!

  32. 5 stars
