French Onion Beef Casserole
French Onion Beef Casserole will win hearts around the dinner table. Filled with beef, onion dip, and noodles, it’s comfort in every bite!

I LOVE a good casserole. I make them all the time, but all those ingredients added together in one dish can be a difficult photography subject. 😉 That being said, don’t judge this based on the pictures. This French Onion Beef Casserole will win hearts all around the dinner table! Filled with beef, French onion dip and noodles- it is so delicious, full of flavor and so comforting.
It is amazing, my friends! I can’t think of any other word except that it is amazing. 🙂

I am so grateful my kids typically love casseroles too. When noodles are involved at any meal they don’t ask questions. They just eat. ha! I like to serve this with a side of broccoli and it makes a complete meal for my family!

Made this twice now and it’s so yummy! I love finding ways to use ground beef that aren’t for tacos or Italian. This is easy and I have most of the ingredients always on hand. Added fresh sauteed mushrooms this time too!
I have made this recipe a few times already. My husband and I love it. I use Ruffles Ranch Dip and it is delicious!
Thank you
This recipe was great! I added fresh mushrooms and put some cheese on top.
I love this recipe! I’ve made it several times following the recipe as written, but i’m making it tonight with the addition of 8 oz sauteed baby bella mushrooms since the person in our family who doesn’t like mushrooms is out of town!. The first time i made this I accidentally mixed the 1/2 c french fried onions into the mixture, but since I love onions, I still put them on top. This was an excellent mistake – i now add them to the mixture every time, as well as on top. Thank you for this recipe!
Great recipe! I am a little cheap and lazy though so I made some modifications…. I used ground turkey, made it in an oven safe pan on the stove top, and instead of Lays french onion dip I just used sour cream and Lipton onion soup mix. Threw it all in the oven in the one pan (I am all for less dishes!) and just as good less $ per serving!
This was absolutely delicious! Perfect for a cold, snowy winter evening. Everybody loved it, I’ll be saving this one for sure!
we make this all the time! I use cream of mushroom with roasted garlic and add cheese to the top before the fried onions. delicious!
Delicious! I added fried onions to the mixture in addition to the top!
I tried Hollys’s Beef Stew recipe and it was amazing, so i decided to try this one. It needs something more, the flavor is very bland, it could use more seasonings and maybe even some sauteed mushrooms. Hubby liked it and had seconds, so maybe this one just isnt for me. It was very quick and easy to prepare.
This recipe was ok. But it kinda tasted like hamburger helper with more ingredients and steps, honestly. I doubt I’ll use it again. It was decent, but not great. meh
I added cheese and onion mushroom soup it was really good
this one is going into the rotation of family favorite. it was super easy to make, tasty and made plenty-so yay leftovers!! hubby loved it, only thing he added was black pepper-but thats normal.
after reading many reviews that said to add a little milk to make it a bit creamier, so i was a little afraid that it would be dry & decided to use beef broth instead of MILK-i used the empty cream of mushrooms can to add about half a can into the mixture. I also added a tablespoon of wochestershire sauce. I did add 1 small onion, salt pepper & garlic powder while browning the ground beef.
Easy and economical. Added about 1 tsp dried thyme for our tastes an be used up my last cup of shredded cheese in the mix. Very cozy and comforting meal paired with green beans and fruit salad.
This recipe is amazing!!! We have made it so many times now, delicious and so easy!!
So easy and tastes amazing! Reminds me of my mom’s beef stroganoff.
I absolutely love love love this recipe! It is quick easy delicious and leftovers, if there are any, are just as tasty! I added diced celery in with the noodles while they cooked and also added some of the french onions into the mixture as well as on top. To each their own, right?! But, really, this recipe is wonderful as is. Great recipe, thank you!
I made this for our dinner tonight and it was a big hit! My husband said it was a “keeper”! Thanks for a delicious and easy recipe. 🙂
I’m one of those folks that made a whole lotta tweaks, but the base recipe is great as well. We double the hamburger and always use refrigerated dip, not jarred. I add sour cream to make it as creamy as I feel it ought to be (but to each their own). I also saute onions with the beef while I’m cooking it, and instead of onions on top – I like to sprinkle crushed up potato chips. Sometimes cheese. There’s no wrong turns with this recipe.
