Holly’s Tips for the Best No Bake Peanut Butter Oreo Pie

Use Softened Cream Cheese: Allow the cream cheese to soften to room temperature for only 30 minutes before mixing. (You don’t want to leave it out longer than that for food safety reasons.) This helps it combine smoothly with the peanut butter without leaving lumps.

Use Smooth Peanut Butter: Creamy, smooth peanut butter works best for the filling and creates the smoothest texture. Avoid natural peanut butter that separates, as the excess oil can affect the consistency of the filling.

Crush the Oreos Finely: For the crust, crush the Oreo cookies into crumbs so the melted butter can evenly coat them and create a sturdy crust.

Don’t Skip the Chilling Time: The pie needs at least 3 hours in the refrigerator to allow the filling to set properly. For the easiest slicing, you can also make it the day before serving.

Make the Whipped Cream Fresh: For the best flavor and texture, prepare the whipped cream topping shortly before serving.

Melt the Peanut Butter Gently: Warm the peanut butter just until it’s thin enough to drizzle. Let it cool slightly before drizzling over the whipped cream.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make No Bake Peanut Butter Oreo Pie ahead of time? Yes! This pie is a great make-ahead dessert. You can prepare it the day before serving and keep it covered in the refrigerator until you’re ready to serve.

Can I use a regular 9-inch pie dish? I recommend using a 9-inch deep-dish pie dish because this recipe makes a generous amount of filling and toppings. A standard pie dish may not have enough room for all of the layers.

Can I use Cool Whip instead of homemade whipped cream? Yes. I highly recommend the fresh whipped cream, however, you can substitute your favorite prepared whipped topping for the homemade whipped cream in the filling and on top of the pie.

Can I use crunchy peanut butter? You can, but smooth peanut butter is recommended for the creamiest filling. Crunchy peanut butter will add pieces of peanuts throughout the pie.

Can I freeze No Bake Peanut Butter Oreo Pie? Yes! Cover the pie tightly and freeze for up to 1 month. Allow it to thaw in the refrigerator before serving. For the best texture, I recommend adding the whipped cream toppings and and the additional toppings after thawing.

Why is my peanut butter filling too thick? The peanut butter and cream cheese mixture is naturally very thick before the whipped cream is folded in. Once the whipped cream is gently folded into the mixture, it should become smooth and creamy.
