BBQ Chicken Dip
Easy BBQ Chicken Dip made with smoky chicken, black beans, and red onions, with a drizzle of BBQ sauce. Creamy, smoky, and comforting!

If you’re searching for the perfect dish to bring to your next party or barbecue, let it be this BBQ Chicken Dip. Similar to buffalo chicken dip, this version is milder but still packed with flavor, adding just the right touch of spice. It’s creamy, comforting, and filled with chicken, black beans, barbecue sauce, and cheese. My sisters and I like to host a Halloween party every year where we dress up, play games, and I’m usually in charge of putting together a signature drink and menu. This year, I brought this dip, and it disappeared within seconds. Everyone absolutely loved it. It’s officially become my new favorite go-to chip dip!

Holly’s Tips for The Best BBQ Chicken Dip:
- Soften The Cream Cheese First: Make sure your cream cheese is fully softened before mixing so the dip blends easily and bakes up extra creamy without lumps.
- Shred The Chicken: Use finely chopped or shredded cooked chicken so every scoop has a perfect balance of dip, cheese, and toppings.
- Layer Ingredients: Mix most ingredients together, then sprinkle extra cheese on top before baking for that golden, bubbly finish.
- Bake Until Hot & Bubbly: The dip is best when it’s fully heated through and lightly browned on top.
- Garnish Before Serving: Add green onions, red onions, and cilantro to keep it fresh.
- Serve Immediately: This barbecue chicken dip tastes best when served warm.
- Use Your Favorite Dippers: Use sturdy tortilla chips, pita chips, or toasted baguette slices that can hold up to the thick and hearty dip.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Yes! You can fully assemble the dip, cover it tightly, and refrigerate it for up to 24 hours before baking. When ready, simply bake until hot and bubbly.
If the dip thickens after baking or chilling, stir in a little extra barbecue sauce or a spoonful of cream cheese to restore its creamy consistency.
This can happen if the cheese separates. To fix it, stir well after baking and avoid overheating during reheating.
Absolutely! Add diced jalapeños, extra pepper-jack cheese, or a splash of hot sauce to increase the heat level.
To make BBQ Chicken Dip gluten-free, simply ensure that all ingredients are certified gluten-free, especially the barbecue sauce, as some brands may contain hidden gluten or additives. Use plain cooked chicken (such as rotisserie or homemade) and double-check that your cream cheese, shredded cheeses, black beans, and corn are gluten-free as well. Serve the dip with gluten-free dippers like tortilla chips, gluten-free crackers, or fresh vegetables instead of regular bread or chips.
