CROCK POT BEEF AND BROCCOLI
I love this Crock Pot Beef and Broccoli recipe so much. I make it at least once a month, but if I made it more often, I know my family would be happy with that. With only a 10-minute prep time, you can kick back, unwind, and let the slow cooker do all the work for you!

This Beef and Broccoli recipe won’t break the bank. It’s definitely cheaper than Chinese takeout, and to me, it tastes a whole lot better. It’s definitely the smart way to save a pretty penny and get your money’s worth.
The beef comes out so tender and juicy, and the sauce it simmers in is rich and savory. It soaks right into every broccoli floret and meat fiber. Every bite is filled with flavor!
To really take this dish to the next level, serve beef and broccoli over a bed of cooked white rice. The rice soaks up all the rich flavors, creating the most heavenly dinner. Everyone will devour this in no time!

I made this tonight and it was amazing! The beef was like butter and even my 5 year old gobbled it up. Definitely going in the rotation.
Super easy, and delicious!!
This was absolutely amazing! Definitely a new favorite!
can i make this without using the crockpot and just basically throw the ingrediants together?
So good! I refused to spend $10 on sesame oil so i used olive oil and put a few sesame seeds in it. One of my favorite crockpot meals by far
Ouch! Sesame oil is expensive where you live! Glad the recipe was still a hit without it 🙂
Hi…can I use other oil? also can I use anything else instead of cornstarch?
Arrowroot powder is a good substitute for cornstarch. Others have said they used olive oil with success. Some have said they just omitted the oil and it was okay! Good luck!
Thanks for the tip about Arrowroot. I liked the recipe, but personally will cut down on the tbickener.
Thank you, I feel the same way about sesame oil, it’s expensive. I’ll try it this way.
I was wondering if olive oil could be substituted. Thanks for you post
Listen people. You need to use sesame oil. Thats what gives it the flavor. Adding sesame seeds to olive oil isnt going to do anything unless the oil is extracted from the seed. Go spend 10 dollars on it and have it in your fridge the rest of the year.
yes, the sesame oil has an almost peanut type flavor to it that you find.. I promise you if you think it’s delicious with olive oil and sesame seeds, it’s going to be 100 times better with this oil. spend that $10!!!! 🙂
Delicious recipe! Yes, you definitely need toasted sesame oil. Here in RI, we have quite a few Asian markets – that’s your best bet, much more expensive at the market – a 56 oz tin will run you around $17-18, a bargain because it lasts so long. Then you’ll have it on hand if you make stir-fries (add it at the end), Asian noodles, or homemade salad dressings – there is no substitute for toasted sesame oil!
Plus you can get really good, authentic soy sauces at the Asian markets (no crappy Kikkoman)….and if they have produce, fresh Daikon radishes and fruits!! Lastly, their noodle selections are outstanding – some are made from peas, so no carbs!
I got my sesame oil at walmart. It was only 3.22.
I have made this before with beef and it was amazing. Tonight I made it with a Boston butt roast from pork (it was on sale) and it was just as amazing. Thank you for this delicious and economical recipe.
I made this tonight and added half a red bell pepper, 2 jalapeño peppers and some green onions. It was killer good! My husband loved it!
Tammie that sounds delicious !! when did you add the pepper? in the beginning or when you added broccoli?
I made this twice. The first time it was outstanding. The second time I used different brand of soy sauce and not very tasty. Did anyone find a differ Eve between the 2 main brands of soy sauce?
What brand of soy sauce did you use when it was outstanding?
Can you use fresh broccoli? If so, when should it be added to the crockpot?
I use fresh broccoli because I feel it just taste better. I leave it for about 30 mins or less. I just check it and we like it when it’s bright green and a little firm. But I think you can adjust the time it to your liking.
Easy and yummy. Unfortunately my available time caused me to get a little creative with the time. I did the meat on high for 2 hours, then turned to low for about 45 minutes. When I turned it to low, I threw in fresh broccoli. I put in the cornstarch/water mixture about half way through the last 45 minutes. Despite playing with the time, I was still quite tasty and the broccoli turned out good. Cooked but not too mushy. Thanks so much for the recipe, I will definitely make again, and this time follow the temp and time directions 🙂
Has anyone made this in the instapot? Its too late to Use the crock pot so i was wanting advice for making it in an instapot
It’s very rare I follow a recipe to a tee but I did for this one. I enjoy making recipes my own but since I was trying this for my husband I followed it and he was happy I did! He loved it and said this is a keeper! i have an automatic crockpot and it had to be set for 7 hours to get low temp but then it automatically goes to warm setting. Some pieces shredded apArt but who cares it was super tasty and soft buttery meat. Thanks for a “keeper”
Made this today and it was easy and fantastic! Thanks
Oh goodness, yum yum. Chinese food is such a guilty pleasure in my house. we could all just live off of it. So, i love finding simple recipes that simulate Chinese take out. That way we can get our fix and save our budget (and hopefully our waist lines) a little grief. So, i think it’s pretty safe to say that this will probably be appearing in my kitchen very soon. and if i can get it to work well it will most likely end up in the regular dinner rotation. Thanks so much for posting.
I made a mistake and put all of the ingredients together and add the cornstarch and water will it still come out good
How did it come out? I just did the same
Can you leave out the brown sugar?
I’m happy that you shared this Crock Pot Beef and Broccoli recipe with us. It’s really nice. Thanks, Holly for sharing this wonderful recipe.
My family loved it. I was at work and my wife text and said Call Me. So I did and she stated, “Honey that was very good. ” And the kids loved it. When I got off at midnight I tasted it and totally agreed.
Thank you!!!!
I added 1/2 of a sliced onion to the recipe and it was delicious. The onion gave it a nice flavor.
Hello,
Can this recipe be prepared in a 4 quart slow cooker? I didn’t see a size specified. Thanks
Very good! Delicious!
I did mine for 5 hrs and it all fell apart.
Me too. I’m thinking I sliced the meat too thin
I just made it tonight with beef stew meat! It was great! Wondering if I should have put in less cornstarch though.
This is my family’s favourite meal ever. I’ve made as written several times and it was fantastic. Recently I got on a freezer meal kick to save time…..A while back I made it ahead in a ziploc bag & put it in the freezer (minus the cornstarch slurry and broccoli). I popped it into the crockpot this morning for 6 hours on low. When I got home it had only been cooking for 5 hours so I broke apart the meat that was still in a clump due to being frozen and cranked it up to high for 1 hour. After the hour I mixed in the cornstarch slurry to thicken and put back on low for 30 mins. I didn’t have frozen broccoli so I steamed fresh for about 10 mins so it was still a bit crunchy, then added to the meat mix for the last 15 mins of low cook time. It came out melt in your mouth AH-MAZING!!!!! Served over jasmine rice and every single one of my 4 picky eaters gobbled it down with no complaints!!! That only happens when we order pizza btw 🙂 I’ve never tasted anything so good! Thank you so much for this wonderful recipe!!!
I bought stew meat by accident the last set time I made it. I trimmed it of extra fat, sliced it nice and thin and it was PHENOMENAL!!!! Go for it 🙂
I cooked it for 3 hours on high in the crock pot and it was perfect. The meat eas tender and not overcooked at all.
