“Fried” Ice Cream Dessert
Fried Ice Cream Dessert is one of my favorite desserts ever! My recipe involves just a quick pan-fry to make the amazing crust that coats a dreamy, cinnamon ice cream combo!

Summer has officially begun in my book. The temperature is rising rapidly here in Southern Utah, so it looks like we’ll be spending a lot of time in our pool, and the lake! I know we will also be enjoying cold treats like this Fried Ice Cream Dessert! It is one of my favorite summer desserts ever. 🙂
An ice cream treat is always in order in the summer time. Luckily, I typically have all the ingredients to make this amazing Fried Ice Cream Dessert. There’s no deep-frying involved with this version, just a quick pan-fry to make the amazing crust that coats a dreamy, cinnamon ice cream combo!
Serve it with drizzles of chocolate syrup and caramel sauce, and you’ll be transported to heaven, my friends. 😉

Ingredients
- 1 container (1.75 quart) vanilla ice cream
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3 cups crushed Corn Flakes cereal
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 container (8 ounces) Cool Whip, thawed
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup honey
- Chocolate syrup
- Caramel sauce
Instructions
- Take the vanilla ice cream out of the freezer and let sit at room temperature for 30 minutes or so, to soften.
- Melt butter in a medium skillet, over medium heat. Add the crushed corn flakes and granulated sugar. Stir to combine. Fry mixture for 5 minutes, stirring constantly, until cereal is golden-brown. *Be careful not to burn. This may take less than 5 minutes*
- Take a 9×13-inch baking dish and spread 1/3 of the corn flakes mixture into the bottom of pan. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, add the softened vanilla ice cream and Cool Whip. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Using a spatula, stir and mix well to combine. Spread ice cream mixture evenly over the corn flake mixture.
- Spread the remaining corn flake mixture evenly over the ice cream. Drizzle the honey over the top. Cover pan, and place in freezer. Freeze ice cream for at least 6 hours, or overnight.
- Cut into squares and serve with drizzles of chocolate syrup and caramel sauce (and if you’re feelin’ frisky add some whipped cream and a cherry on top) Enjoy! ♥

Oh my yummm! I have loved Fried Ice Cream but NEVER wanted to tackle it myself…you have now given me a way to enjoy it at home! Thank you sweetly!
LOVE this as a “casserole” dish. I’ve made this as ice cream scoops. Can’t wait to try this version!
Wowza! That looks amazing!
Love this idea! It looks so good!
OH YUM! I am getting ready to post a very similar recipe – such a hit for summertime. Yours looks absolutely tempting! Thanks for sharing.
Oh! That looks fabulous!!
looks delicious and really easy to make!
This looks perfect for my 4th of July party! Do I use salted or unsalted butter?
I made this and it was incredible! I made 1/3 in individual cupcake cups for bday party and the rest in a casserole and my guests raved and raved. And my husband couldn’t stop eating it and saying how awesome it was. And I am so excited that I can actually make my own “fried ice cream” at home instead of waiting til my birthday rolls around to get the free one at the restaurant! LOVE IT!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!
Hello, I see you made this in individual cups? I’m making for a party of about 20, i’m wondering if you think i could make ahead in a 6 or 8 oz clear disposable cup and freeze ahead of time. wondering what your thoughts were and your experience! Thank you!
Just wondering if anyone has tried freezing this in individual serving cups?
I made this for a birthday party and it was a huge hit! My family said it was “even better” than the local Mexican restaurant! Thanks for a great recipe.
I am so so so thrilled to make this! It looks AWESOME and way easier than rolling individual balls of ice cream in crushed cornflakes!
Making this tomorrow night for guests!! Thank you so much for the idea!! Fried ice cream (and anything remotely Mexican) is my favorite!!
My mother in law loves fried ice cream. I am going to have to make this recipe for her. Thanks.
Clever idea to make fried ice cream that way. I’ve tried the typical method of frying the balls of ice cream in the pan before, but I just made a mess. Your method looks a bit less mess-prone, and certainly very pretty.
Looks AMAZING!! Yummy!
My husband loved this and so did my guests! Easy. I made it with cinnamon toast crunch type cereal ( no brand).
I made this for my 10 person family and they loved it!
I made this last night for a Cinco de Mayo potluck, and it was delicious. Although next time, I will probably use 4 cups of corn flakes (or a smaller dish) to get more crumb coverage on the top of the ice cream, and a little less sugar in the mixture. With the addition of the chocolate and caramel sauce it was a bit too sweet. Thanks for sharing this recipe!
I have made this for a few friends and for my mother and every single person loved it! My mother asks me to make it for her weekly now!!! Thank you for the amazing recipe !
I’ve been looking at this recipe for awhile. I made Mexican food for Cinco de Mayo and finally got the opportunity to make this. It was awesome!!! I’ll be making this more often than once a year. Thank you for sharing.
I whipped up a batch last night. I had to use Frosted Flakes as I didn’t have corn flakes (I didn’t add the sugar as I figured the frosted flakes had enough) – and it seemed to work fine.
So excited I came across a ” cake” version. I also doubled the topping per a previous suggestion and found that I should really triple it. But excellent tasting and will definitely make again, soon!
This was really good; however, I think I will only use 1/3 c. sugar in the cornflake mixture next time. It was REALLy sweet.
Holy cow was this awesome. Took it to a BBQ and everyone loved it! Very simple to make. Thanks a bunch for sharing! This is a keeper! Bring on summer!
My family is still talking about this. Delish!
This is AMAZING!!!!
will be making many times more 🙂
