Ingredients

  • 2 packages (1 ounce, each) dry onion soup mix
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 pounds beef stew meat, or a boneless beef roast, cut in 1-inch pieces
  • 5 medium potatoes peeled and diced
  • 2 to 3 cups baby carrots
  • 1 small yellow onion chopped
  • 2 cans (10 ounces, each) cream of celery soup
  • 1 cup ketchup *(you can substitute tomato sauce if you don't like ketchup)

Instructions

  • In a large plastic bag, combine the dry onion soup mix and paprika. Add in meat and shake the bag to coat meat with the seasonings. (You may have to do that step in two batches, for all the meat to fit)
  • Once meat is coated, spread out evenly into a greased 7 quart crock pot. Top meat evenly with the diced potatoes, carrots and onion.
  • Mix the cream of celery soup and ketchup in a small bowl. Pour mixture over the meat and vegetables.
  • Cover crock pot with lid. Cook on low heat for 7 to 8 hours or until meat is cooked through and vegetables are tender. Stir to combine everything then serve.

    Hi all!

Threw this super easy recipe together in my crockpot before work and cAme Home to super yummy dinner 🙂 i have a 4 qt crock pot so baSically cUt the recipe in half.. used 2 Medium yellow potaToes (left skin on for my preference, adds good Flavor and texTure), 2 carrots, 1 pckg onion soup mix, and substituted 1 8 oz Canned tomato sauce for the ketchUp. I still Did 1 C sauce and about half of the can of Water as i wanted a bit More “gravy”— still came out thick like a stew not Too soupy. Will make again!! So so easy and tasty

Great RECIPIE! I JUST MADE THIS A FEW NIGHTS AGO & IT WAS A HIT! NO CONCERNS WITH BEING SALTY WHATSOEVER. I USED A RUMP ROAST FROM OUR FREEZER BEEF AND CUBED IT. I’M NOT A BIG KETCHUP FAN, HOWEVER I DIDN’T OMIT IT FROM THE RECIPIE I JUST USED ABOUT 1/3 CUP. I DID ADD ABOUT 1/3 CAN OF WATER WITH THE CREAM OF CELERY. RESULTS WERE DELICIOUS! I WILL MAKE AGAIN.

This is so delicious “but” i would def use tomato saUCe instead of ketcup. In my opinion the ketcup made it to salty! Pair it with corn bread and man ol’ man your belly will be so happy!

This recipe made my house smell amazing. It was so easy and delicious. I Subbed a can Of cream of mushroom Soup for one of the celery soups and I salt and peppered the veggies before adding the soup ketchup mixture. We are definitely making this again.

  16. This sounds yummy! Will definitely make this. I love stew. Do you think Cream of asparagus would work – my husband is not a fan of Celery?

  17. Idk how recent comments are but I’ve been making this recipe for years now. And yes. Add liquid. I do a can of water and a can of milk. And it ends up with the right amount of broth. You can also just use baby potatoes. Which will cut down on prep time. And I also mix meat and onion mix right in crock pot and works just fine

I Made this recipe tonight and it was amazing! Definitely my new go to roast recipe!
And Just to settle the debate, I substituted cream of celery with cream of mushroom and ketchup with tomato sauce, it still came out great! I also spread one can of the mushroom soup on the bottom of the crock pot so the meat wouldn’t stick and combined the other can with tomato sauce and poured on top.
