I have to admit it. I love me some IHOP pancakes. Breakfast is one of my favorite meals to eat at restaurants, though it’s funny, because I’m normally a savory foods girl. I like to order chicken fried steak, bacon or eggs. BUT there’s always an exception when we go to IHOP. I always get their pancakes. They are amazing! Especially with their butter pecan syrup. Yum!

We absolutely loved these pancakes. In my family’s opinion, they were BETTER than IHOP’s. Maybe it’s because they were homemade, I’m not sure. They were just amazing!

Made these, only had milk, not buttermilk, unfortunately, but even still, definitely tasted like ihops! Thank you for a great recipe!

DELICIOUS AND AMAZING! this is a keeper for me. i didn’t use 1 1/4 cups buttermilk because the comments said the batter was too thin because of too much buttermilk. i reduced the buttermilk to 1 cup (1 T lemon juice and filled up the rest of the cup measure with milk to make buttermilk.) When it was time to pour the pancakes, it was too thick to pour, so I ended up adding 2 T more milk to the batter, and i used a 1/4 cup measure to scoop out the batter on to the skillet. i think there is confusion because the recipe says 1 1/4 cups sifted flour. i have found that if you sift the flour first and then measure it, you won’t get enough flour and the pancake mix will be runny. i suggest you spoon your flour into your measuring cups first and then sift it into your bowl. I went exactly with the recipe, except I only used 1 cup + 2 T milk instead of 1 + 1/4 cup milk. Also, I measured out 1 and 1/4 cup flour with a spoon into my measuring cups and then i sifted it into the bowl. i don’t know if this is right so guidance regarding this would be welcome. however, at the end of the day, if it’s too runny add more flour and if it’s too thick add a little milk. (My batter was still kinda thick and gloppy, but it tasted wonderful)

Delicious and fluffy. I subsTituded oatmilk for regular milk and used vegan butter and they were still amazing! My kids loved them (ages9,14,15) and they had no idea thEre eas oatmilk. Delicious!!!

  7. I never seem to have buttermilk on hand so I used regular 2%milk with some white vinegar. Tastes great and my oldest loves them so much I need to put leftovers in the fridge for breakfast the next day. No more mix for me!! I will try apple cider vinegar next time as it sounds interesting. (A DOUBLE batch is always needed!)

This is a great recipe, but if you want to take it up to exactly like ihop pancakes, make sure all your wet ingredients are room temperature when you make your batter. Trust me, it makes all the difference.

  11. Holly, I love IHOP’S pumpkin spice pancakes, how much would I add to the batter along with the pumpkin spice?

    1. Hi Emmi, I would add about a 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice to the dry ingredients and then make the rest of the recipe as directed. I haven’t tried it this way but I am sure it would be so delicious!
