Steak Bites Recipe

Today, September 14th 2016, is my blog’s 6th birthday! 😀 How cool, huh. It’s kind of hard to believe I’ve been blogging for 6 years now. I started it with absolutely no expectations. It was truly just going to be a family blog- sharing family photos and news for friends, and then I started posting recipes and the rest is history.

I now have over 778 recipes and it’s become the career of my dreams. I couldn’t be happier AND I couldn’t do this without you amazing readers stopping by every day, so I want to say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. ♥

Now, let’s talk about these Steak Bites. We need to talk about them because they are a must-make! I have cooked these for dinner twice in a week because we love them so much. I bet you already have the marinade ingredients in your pantry right now! They are all simple staples that turn some steak into something really delicious.

Dinner literally takes just minutes to make and tastes so good! I like to serve ours with a green salad and a veggie. It’s a really awesome low-carb dinner that makes my belly happy. 🙂 I hope you give this recipe a try!

Steak Bites

The simple marinade for these Steak Bites turn plain steak into something so delicious and full of flavor!
Cook Time 4 minutes
Total Time 20 minutes
Servings 4
Author Holly

  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 2 Tablespoons dried basil
  • 1 Tablespoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 ½ lbs. flat iron or top sirloin steak cut in 1-inch pieces

  • Place all ingredients, except steak, in a large ziplock baggie. Stir with a spoon to combine.
  • Drop steak pieces in and seal shut. Shake gently to coat steak entirely in marinade. Place bag in refrigerator to marinate for 15 minutes or up to 24 hours. (The longer it marinates the more flavorful and tender the steak will be.)
  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Heat skillet until it’s very hot. Remove steak pieces from marinade using a slotted spoon and place in hot skillet. Discard marinade. Cook steak according to your desired temperature. We like medium-well so I cooked ours for about 3 minutes.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!

  1. Happy anniversary!! These look really good. I always have trouble with my steak being too tough. Any ideas – do I need to marinade them longer, cook them a shorter amount of time?

Do as Holly said, you probably cooked it too long, I usually do for just a couple minutes turning them take a thermometer and check what temp it is, usually I cook mine little rare or pink. you did it well done and it gets like shoe leather… GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS.

  2. I made these tonight served over white rice. My family really enjoyed them. I used a pretty good cut of meat, I think that is key. Thanks!

  3. I like the idea of being able to use a cheaper cut of meat to achieve a “good steak” taste and texture. I followed the recipe exactly but 2 Tablespoons of basil seemed way to much, for us anyway. I’ll greatly reduce it next time

Right, Avocado Oil you can get at Costco, it cost about $9.00 and change but it too is high heat, and very good, and it is not a gallon neither. It is a lesser amount.

  4. Very easy to make. If you are sensitive to soy sauce or Westchester, it may not be for you. Myself, it was too strong.

  5. Made these the other night, me and my family all agreed they were 5 stars outta 5!! Really awesome, definitely going in the dinner rotation.

  6. I used these for a low-carb stir fry tonight, and they were AWESOME. I marinated the beef tips (I used stew beef) overnight in a ziploc bag, then baked them until nearly done in the oven. Then I drained the liquid off, tossed the beef tips into a pot with a bagged stir fry veggie mix (bok choi and other fresh veggies, not frozen), added a little sesame oil and tossed until the veggies were *just* wilted. No other seasoning needed and the normally tough stew beef was SO tender.

Bonus: I had enough beef tips left over for another meal tomorrow.

  7. I’m in LOVE with this recipe!!! Tried it tonight with the flat iron steak option and it’s an instant new family favorite!

  8. A little too “herby” for my families liking. Are 2 tablespoons dried basil correct? Maybe 2 teaspoons would not knock us out like they did tonight for our dinner. I used flat iron steaks and they were tender, but again way too many herbs.

  9. I made this tonight I think the cut of meat was a bit tough, also a bit to salty, any ideas on what to use to not make it so salty and a better cut of meat?

  10. Do you happen to know the nutrition information on the steak bites? I’m trying the keto diet and trying to account for everything I eat! These look great!

  11. I keep meaning to come back and comment on this recipe and I finally just made myself do it. This recipe is phenomenal! My fiancé calls it the best thing he’s ever gotten from the internet. We’ve put it on steak bites, full steak, pork chops, salmon, and chicken. It’s been absolutely wonderful every single time. I don’t even have to ask him if he wants me to marinate things in anything else. This is all we’re using for anything. I don’t even have to look at the recipe anymore. Thanks so much for sharing!!!

  12. Just in case anyone like myself is always looking for recipes for wild game, I made this tonight with venison instead of beef and it turned out PERFECT!!

  13. I made this for my family tonight for supper I followed the recipe per Batum it turned out very delicious thank you for the wonderful recipe you are really making me look good in the kitchen thank you

  14. Love these steak bites! So easy to make and packed with flavor! I follow recipe exactly and usually serve with rice and fresh veggies.

  15. Made these last night and my family devoured them! I suggest the full 24hr marinade so the meat is tender. Will definitely be making this over and over again!

  16. These are the best. I first found the recipe in 2017 just had to come back and print it again because my original was hosed! lol These are simply incredible and everyone I’ve made them for LOVES them. If I’d lost my recipe, my family would not be happy at all. One of our all time favorites. Thank you !

RIGHT ON HOLLY. People just don’t read properly, I always read a recipe two times and make sure I have it right.

Do you think these could be marinated and then put into single serving size bags and frozen? Cooking for one over here.

  19. Happy New Year! Making steak bites I need to put oil in pan to fry or is there enough in bites? Thanks

If you’re debating to make this do it! It’s so good you won’t need sauce. We’ve made it in a pan cut in small pieces and also left it WHOLE and grilled. It’s Amazing both ways. Thank you for sharing your recipe❤️

This is one of the best recipes I have found!! I tweaked it a bit (due to time), but I just threw everything in the crockpot on low for just a few hours. Outstanding!

I made the recipe but I toned down the basil and added some thyme instead. I also added a large splash of red wine vinegar. I think next time I make it I would add red pepper flakes to the marinade because for me it needed a bit of zip. Also i have a soy allergy so I subbed coconut aminos.

  24. I’ve been following you maybe for all 6 years.. ha! I love your recipes and quite a few have been in my regular rotation now. The 3 packet roast and crock pot italian chicken are just a few favorites!

These turned out Amazing! One of the easiest recipes I’ve made and by far the most flavorful. Thank you!
