Heavenly Oreo Dessert

This Heavenly Oreo Dessert has layers of chocolate pudding, cool whip, and a cream cheese filling. Each bite is truly blissful!
Prep Time 2 hours 30 minutes
Servings 12

Ingredients

  • 1 package (15.35 ounces) Double-Stuffed Oreo cookies
  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 2 boxes (3.9 ounces, each) instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 3 ¼ cups cold milk
  • 2 containers (8 ounces, each) Cool Whip, thawed
  • 1 block (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  • Take a large zip-lock bag and place all the Oreo cookies inside. Seal bag shut and place on counter. Using a rolling pin, crush the cookies until they are small chunks/crumbs. You want them to still be chunky and small, but not fine crumbs.
  • Set aside 1/3 of the cookie crumbs for the topping. Pour remaining cookie crumbs into a 9×13 baking pan. Pour the melted butter over the crumbs and mix well to combine. Once combined, press into the pan to form a crust.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the 2 pudding mixes and milk. Cover and place in fridge to set.
  • In a medium bowl, blend cream cheese until smooth. Slowly add in the powdered sugar. Fold in one container of Cool Whip. Spread mixture over the cookie crust.
  • Next, take chocolate pudding and spread evenly over the cream cheese mixture. Spread the other container of Cool Whip all over the chocolate pudding layer. Sprinkle the top with the remaining cookie crumbs. Cover and chill in fridge at least 2 hours before serving. Enjoy!

    1. wow! I thought I was gonna mess something up but I didn’t it looks amazing I found the recipe 6 days ago then I just made it today on Valentine’s day my family hasnt tasted it yet but I hope they luv it !!!!

    2. I’ve made this dessert twice and it is truly delicious! I just wanted to point out that the best way to mix the cream cheese with powder sugar is to place a metal dish with hot water under the bowl. You don’t have to use a blender just keep mixing it with a spoon until it gets soft and smooth. Again…add the cool whip and keep mixing it. You’ll see how smooth it gets.

      1. i JUST CHOP THE CREAM cheese into chunks, microwave on low and beat with fork until smooth. then fold in cool whip and spread onto cookie crust.

My teenage grandson loves anything oreo, so i made this for his bir cake a few days ago and it Didn’t last very long! We all loved it!! Definitely saved the recipe. Thank you!!

  1. Oh Girl…you really sucked me in with this awesome treat. What’s not to love huh? You share the bestest recipes – thanks. Pinning for now to make when I can share….GREAT ‘get well medicine’. =)

  2. Just made this and it truly is heavenly. So glad I found this recipe. My family enjoyed it . Infact my girls licked their bowls clean. :-). Thanks for sharing this recipe.

  3. So good! Might not be the fanciest of desserts, but it’s definitely a crowd pleaser!

I made this for Father’s Day per my husband’s request and it really is very tasty and everyone enjoyed it. I made it as written except I only used half of the powdered sugar called for in the cream cheese layer as a full cup seemed like a lot to me considering all the other sweet layers. Turned out just fine with the 1/2 cup of sugar 🙂

    Thanks for sharing the recipe!

    1. Sounds yummy! You cold fancy it up when you serve it, by using a pretty dish and maybe an extra cookie standing up to the side or a few chocolate curls or even a drizzle of caramel sauce on the serving plate.

  4. That looks just like something a good family friend always made in the Summer; great memories! I am totally going to have to try this soon! Thanks Holly! 🙂

    1. You could probably use vanilla oreo’s and pudding and do a vanilla version.Or pistachio and chocolate.

I just made this using nutter butter PEANUT BUTTER SANDWICH COOKIES WITH A DASH OF CINNAMON AND USED VANILLA PUDDING WITH SWEETENED CONDENSED MILK AND REGULAR MILK. O M G ‘

        1. Kim, When making it with the peanut butter cookies, how much milk and how much sweetened condense milk did you use?

  5. A good friend of mine makes this its very rich but it is so good I can eat a lot of it when she makes it can I say so yummy

  6. This was delicious, but I went by pictures and made this in an 8×8 pan, which wasn’t big enough! After looking back at the directions I saw the 9×13 direction. You might want to put in a disclaimer!!! 😉

    1. Brittney, for some reason I thought I had mentioned that on there, but I had not. So I just fixed that. Thanks for the heads up! And glad you enjoyed it 🙂

      1. it says you can make it a couple of hours before – can you make it the day before and it still be as delicious? I want to make it for the kids for a rehearsal supper

  7. I found this via Pinterest and will be making one batch for a friends birthday & another for Mother’s Day weekend. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Ive made this recipe several times now. The wife and the kids now ask for it to be made regularly. Everybody loves it and there is never any left over

  8. I made this recipe for my family!
100% Success!!!! They LOVED it,the kids already asked when was i gonna make it again.
    So Thank you

  9. Hi i accidentally made the pudding as it says on the box which is 4 cups of milk your recipe says 3/ 1/4 cup will it be ok

  10. This is officially the first recipe I come across Pinterest that did not disappoint my taste buds. I made it for Easter and it was heavenly. Thank you for sharing!

  11. I made this for my family this weekend, but I tweaked it. I baked off the crust for 15 minutes on 350 and I layered it in a trifle doubling the cream cheese and sugar for the layers. It was heavenly.

  12. How long do you leave the pudding in the fridge to set -just as long as it takes to complete the next steps? Is it the right consistency by then?

    1. I’ve made this type recipe for over twenty years, but you use only 3 cups of mix with the two boxes of Instant pudding it will be set and ready to use without having to go into the fridge…

  13. Someone made this at a picnic event and it was really good so I looked for this last year and I made it my brother-in-law said this is good. I am going to continue making is for spring and summer. Thank you

  14. Before I made the dessert, I was excited to see how it would turn out to my friends at school. When I was making the dessert, I found it pretty easy to follow the step in the recipe. After I served the dessert to my friends, they kept asking for more until it was all gone.! Awesome recipe

  15. What a great recipe! It was simple and everyone enjoyed it! I have had to send it to many friends who have tried it.

  16. I just made this scrumptious oreo dessert. It was easy as pudding! The top layer of cool whip I had to sit out for a few minutes because I saw it would be difficult to spread on top of the pudding. It worked out well with a little stir and then dropped by spoonfuls onto the pudding. Thanks for the recipe!

  17. My wife printed this recipe for me and suggested I make it. I made it about a month ago and it was delicious. The only suggestion I would have for the original recipe is to use regular Oreos instead of double-stuffed. For me, the extra frosting in the double-stuffed ones made it really sticky when trying to crush the cookies.

I modified the recipe for the 4th of July. Instead of Oreos, I used Nilla Wafers. Instead of chocolate pudding, I used Salted Caramel pudding. In addition to putting some of the Nilla Wafer crumbs on the top, I also finely chopped some Hershey’s Gold candy bars and sprinkled on top. This modification was as big hit with our guests on the 4th.

  18. I tried to make this after not making it for a few years and I didnt realize that the packages of cookies are smaller now so I think you should say ounces instead of package!

  19. Drooling! This looks so good!! I’d like to make it to have for dessert Saturday evening. Could I make it Friday night and still taste great?

This recipe is perfect. I make it the day before but wait until ready to serve to put crumbled cookies on top. They stay crunchy this way.
    Thanks for sharing this recipe.

  21. I want to make this receipe the night before ? Will the cookie crust and other cookies get to soft that is my main concern don’t want the Oreo cookies soft please email me as to what I need to do. Thank you

    1. Jill, I sent you an email but thought I would post it here too.Yes, if you make the dessert the night before the cookie crust will get soft. It will still taste delicious but it will be soft and you won’t get that cookie crust crunch. -Holly

    2. Also as with any desserts liKe these w cookie crusts i always bake my crust prior to adding the filling. Usually for about 10-15 min juSt to harden it up a bIt. Also a great tip i learned from my gma is to either make a quick chocol ganache or even reguLar ChocOlate frOsting froM a can and put a thin well covered layer on the Crust and refRigerate until it is a bit hard and will prevent the filling from maKiNg direct contact W the crust and def makes a huge diff aNd keeps the crust nice and crunchy! I always do that !

  22. I’ve made this yummy recipe 3 times. It’s so delicious . This Oreo desert is a huge hit at our home. This is one of the recipes I’m making for Thanksgiving. Yum yum

  24. I’ve used graNulated sugar with cream cheese and whipped cream before and it does not make it grainy at all. Going to try recipe oUt, looks delicious!

Sooo Good! Great for potlucks, parties, movie nights, or simply just to eat! the ingredIents are alMost all in an average american pantry and Easy to make! And it taste Great! DEFINITELY Try!

  27. I want to mAke this recipe for a friends birthday but i would like to make it in advance.. if i made it wnd left it covered in the fridge for 3 days would it still taste as good? Or woupd it he soggy with the oreo crumbs??

    1. I don’t suggest making it three days in advance. When pudding sits in the fridge it can start to form a watery layer on top after only one day. I honestly would wait and make it the night before, or the day of the party. Just so it’s fresh and yummy!

Great Recipe! I sadly cant find in my town dOuble stuFfed, can i use normal and if yes how many do i need? Does the amount i need change?

  29. Thanks for Sharing. Just made it for my wife for mother’s day and used gf oreos for her. Can’t wait for 2.5 hours!

I have made this recipe many times with a few changes. for the pudding, I Use less milk (about 1.5 cups) and mix in a full tub of cool whip,, taste more like mousse. I bake the oreo crust for 10 minutes, less crumbs. Also, I make real whipped cream with, heavy cream for the top. A real crowd pleaser, especially the kids.
    enjoy.

  31. Hi i scrolled through a ton of comments and can’t find the question. Do you use unsalted or salted butter!? I want to make this tomorrow, please help!!

  32. Hi – have you ever made this with real whipping cream, INSTEAD of cool whip? And with just the Oreo crumbs that you can buy? Thank you!

    1. Hi Lily, No I have not tried it with real whipping cream, but I think it would work great. I would plan on eating it the same day you make it if using real whipped cream. It doesn’t stay thick or last as long as cool whip does. Also, I have not tried using the Oreo crumbs. You want big chunks of the double stuff Oreos for the crust. So I highly suggest using the real Oreos. 🙂

I made this dessert 3 times already – it is delicious. I have leftover in my fridge that I made a few days ago and it’s taking every inch of me to not devour the rest of it in one sitting. it is soooo good!! I just add less butter and a half the powdered sugar mixture, and it tastes amazing!! thank you so much!!!

This was so good. It is very rich and my family only ate little pieces at a time. But Idk if anyone had disCovered this yet, but my pleasAntly surprised mIstake Was: when it got Kinda hot in the kitchen This started to melt. I put it in the freezer and was even Better. It was like an Ice cream Cake. So when i pUt the leftovers in the freezer and Came back to it every so often, it was even better than before!

I made it for my dish to take to our family Thanksgiving tomorrow. it looks yummy & of course I had a tiny taste of everything as I made it.

This has been a hit not just for my immediate Family, but for extended family and friends as well. We have been using this recipe for a few years now. It is highly requested when we go to family events. This is such an amazing recipe. Thank you!

  37. HEAVENLY OREO DESSERT; I respectfully rename you “Oreo Orgasm” and am not ashamed to say I’ve enjoyed you at several holiday office parties but, until today have never gone it on my own. Accidently bought “cook & serve” pudding, but made adjustments and soldiered on. It’s in the fridge now and, even if the pudding doesn’t set up just right, everything in it is so yummy I don’t think anyone will care if it’s a bit soupie. 😀
P.s.Please excuse if this comes out all Caps. For some reason this site it converting my lower case to caps. 🙁

I have been making this dessert for 15 years. it is the most requested recipe i make, as it always has to be at every Christmas, thanksgiving, and birthday. However, sometimes you are in a Rush so I have found that Hunts snack pack chocolate pudding works just as well, if not better, it saves time because you dont have to wait for the pudding to set up.. thats the only way I make it now.

  39. My niece and nephew beg me to make this at every family/holiday meal. Thank you for such a DELICIOUS and easy dessert!
