Stuffed French Bread
Make this easy Stuffed French Bread filled with seasoned ground beef, veggies, and melty cheese. A quick, family-friendly dinner that’s perfect for busy nights.

It was a little difficult to take a good picture of this Stuffed French Bread, but I HAD to share the recipe. It was so delicious! A cheesy and flavorful ground beef mixture piled inside French bread. Holy moly, so good! It’s even better if you use my homemade French bread recipe!

STUFFED FRENCH BREAD
Another reason I love this comforting stuffed bread so much is that it’s one of those easy 30-minute meals. Perfect for those tired, stressful, I-don’t-feel-like-cooking nights. 🙂 The beef mixture requires a skillet prep of around 20 minutes, then you pop it in the oven for another 10 or so. After that, you’re on your way to a crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, delicious hot sandwich!
Ingredients

- 1 loaf French bread
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 2 Tablespoons dried minced onion
- 1/2 cup chopped celery
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 can (10 ounces) cream of celery soup
- 2 Tablespoons milk
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 1/2 cups freshly grated cheddar cheese
- 1/2 Tablespoon freshly chopped parsley (optional)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Brown the ground beef and onion in a large skillet, over medium-high heat. Drain any grease. Add the celery and minced garlic to skillet. Cook a few minutes until the celery is tender. Next, add the soup, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Stir and cook mixture until heated through; about 5 minutes or so.

Meanwhile, slice the French bread in half, lengthwise, so you have two equal pieces. Scoop out the bread in the center of each piece and tear into small pieces. Add these bread pieces to the beef mixture in the skillet. Stir to combine.

Set the two halves of French bread onto a large baking sheet. Set aside.
Pour the warm beef and bread mixture into the center of one half of the French bread. Spread out evenly. Top the mixture evenly with the shredded cheese. Top with the other half of the bread.

Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until cheese is melted. Remove from oven and let stand 5 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy!

Holly, this was outstanding! Oh my goodneSs it tasted like a stromboli!! And i saw the chicken stuffed french bread, so That’s another recipe on my list to make! I love your blog, so many amazing recipes to make! Thank you so very much!
Loved this the first time i made it and i am making it again Tonight.
instead of french bread, I used a defrosted loaf of garlic bread split down the middle…..since thawed, compressed the center of the loaf with a spoon, pushing down into the loaf the section with the garlic seasoning. then i added the beef and ingredients….baked at 300 with cheese on top……it was great, so fast…..i had it like an open-faced hot sandwich. lots of ways to make variations on a theme. good job!
How large a loaf of bread and how many inches per serving?????? I am making for a bridal shower. About 35 people.
Just a standard size French bread loaf. Each stuffed loaf would serve around 6 so I would just cut it in 6 even slices. 🙂
We absolutely love this dinner!! Making it tonight, cannot, wait for dinner!!
Dinner tonight! We absolutely love this recipe! Mmmmm good!
Just popped This is the oven! We absolutely love this dinner! Thank you!
This was way too good! I loved the filling and I made some homemade french bread as well. It was an incredible dinner! We were all fans of it in my house.
This was very good. My whole family loved it! Was really just looking for a way to use my leftover French bread and now I have a repeat recipe saved.
My husband is picky and doesn’t like mushroom or onion. Can I use cream of chicken and then onion powder? If so, how much?
Thanks!
Yes, absolutely you can use cream of chicken soup instead. I would use a 1/2 teaspoon onion powder. 🙂 Hope you both love the recipe!
We make this almost every month- and this last time my store was out of the loaves of bread. I picked up crusty dinner rolls from the bakery and made individual sandwiches. They were amazing. Highly recommened.
Wow, This was fantastic! I added more seasoning and some cream cheese to the beef mixture. Like other comments, it’s way too hot in So Cal for the oven, so we threw it on the smoker for about 15 min. This will def go in our reguLar rotation. Thank you!
Delicious. My daughter works at a sandwich shop and brings home leftover bread so I used that. I Brushed the top of the breads with garlic butter the last few minutes of baking. Very good and easy recipe.
Followed this to a T and it turned out wonderful! Looking forward to experimenting with other meats/soup combinations.
This comment is very late. I have had, and used this recipe for years now. We use ground turkey with an added tsp of beef Better Than Bouillon. This is to help with our cholesterol. Everyone in our family still loves it after all of this time.
