Cranberry sauce was something I was never really into, until a few years ago. Once I gave it a try I was instantly hooked! It pairs so well with the Thanksgiving turkey and side dishes. It adds a little sweetness with all that savory food. 🙂
This recipe for cranberry sauce is classic, simple and delicious. We love this recipe as is, but you could definitely dress it up by adding orange juice or lemon zest.
Cranberry Sauce
Classic and fresh cranberry sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 12 oz. package fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan combine water and sugar. Bring to a boil then add cranberries. Return to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cover and cool completely at room temperature.
- Refrigerate to chill before serving.
Notes
Yields: 2 1/4 cups
It’s the best! This year I made it in the crock pot and added my usual part OJ and grated orange peel. I wish you could bottle that scent all season long…(:
