It’s official. These Italian Nachos are my newest obsession, and I just know you will love them too. Imagine crispy wontons layered with grilled chicken, bell peppers, and olives, drenched in creamy Alfredo sauce and Mozzarella cheese. Even better, this easy Italian nachos recipe comes together in under 45 minutes, making it perfect for busy weeknights, game day, or casual entertaining. I love serving these cheesy chicken nachos as an appetizer when I’m craving something more savory, or as a fun family-friendly dinner everyone can snack on straight from the pan.

ITALIAN NACHOS

Most traditional Italian nachos recipes are made with ground beef, but this version uses tender shredded chicken for an equally delicious twist. To save even more time, you can use Rotisserie chicken. For the best flavor, I love topping this recipe with my homemade Creamy Garlic Alfredo Sauce to give it that rich, authentic Italian-inspired taste. If you’re short on time, though, your favorite store-bought Alfredo sauce works just fine too. No matter which options you choose, these cheesy chicken Italian nachos turn out absolutely incredible every time.

Ingredients

  • 1 package Wonton wrappers*

  • 2 cups shredded Mozzarella cheese

  • 1 can (2 ounces) sliced black olives
  • fresh parsley chopped (optional)

Note

* You can find Wonton wrappers in the produce section of grocery stores.

Repeat with all wrappers.

Heat a small skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 teaspoon olive oil then add diced bell peppers. Stir and cook 5 minutes or until tender.

Storage and Reheating

Store leftover Italian nachos in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, and reheat in the oven or air fryer to help restore their crispiness before serving.

Holly’s Tips for The Best Italian Nachos Recipe:

  • Fry Wontons Evenly In Small Batches: Overcrowding the pan lowers the oil temperature and can make the wontons soggy instead of light and crunchy.
  • Slice Wontons: Cutting wonton wrappers into uniform triangles ensures they cook evenly and deliver the perfect crispy Italian nacho base.
  • Drain Fried Wontons: Removing excess oil keeps your Italian nachos crispy instead of greasy.
  • Layer For The Best Melt: Add half the Mozzarella under toppings and the rest on top to create that perfect gooey cheese pull.
  • Don’t Forget The Boiler: A quick 2–3 minute broil at 450°F melts the cheese perfectly and ties all the flavors together. Watch closely to prevent burning.
  • Make It Your Own: Add mushrooms, spinach, grilled onions, or even crispy bacon to make this Alfredo chicken nachos recipe your own.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Can I make Italian Nachos ahead of time?

It’s best to assemble Italian nachos right before serving so the wonton chips stay crispy. However, you can prep toppings like chicken, veggies, and sauce ahead of time for faster assembly.

What can I use instead of wonton wrappers?

If you can’t find wonton wrappers, you can substitute them with tortilla chips or baked pita chips, but wonton wrappers give the most authentic, crispy texture for Italian-style nachos.

What sauce goes best on Italian Nachos?

Creamy Alfredo sauce is the most popular choice, but you can also use garlic parmesan sauce or a light white cheese sauce for a similar rich flavor.

How do I keep Italian Nachos from getting soggy?

To keep them crispy, fry wonton wrappers until golden, drain them well on paper towels, and only add Alfredo sauce and toppings right before broiling and serving.

How can I make Italian Nachos gluten-free?

To make Italian nachos gluten-free, replace the wonton wrappers with certified gluten-free tortilla chips or gluten-free wonton-style wrappers if available. Be sure to check that your Alfredo sauce is gluten-free, as some store-bought versions contain flour as a thickener. The rest of the ingredients are naturally gluten-free.
