Looking for something creative and delicious this Halloween? Whether it be for a Halloween party, or for the trove of trick-or-treaters that will knock at the door give them a yummy fright with my Monster Munch. This snack mix is packed with all things good, salty, and sweet for the ultimate treat!

WHAT IS MONSTER MUNCH?

Kale and I are huge Halloween fans. We love scary movies, haunted houses, and hosting Halloween parties. All the hungry guests need a little something to be able to snack on through the entirety of the night. My Monster Munch is a combination of Chex mix, candy corn, and pretzels. M&M’s, peanuts, and plenty of melted white chocolate to combine everything together. It’s scary how delicious this treat is.

INGREDIENTS TO MAKE MONSTER MUNCH

  • 1 cup pretzels
  • 2½ cups Honey Nut Cheerios
  • 2½ cups Corn Chex
  • 1 cup peanuts (optional. I didn’t use any)
  • 1 package (12 ounces) candy corn M&M’s
  • 2 cups candy corn
  • 1 package (12 ounces) white chocolate chips
  • 1 ½ Tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Halloween sprinkles (optional)

HOW TO MAKE MONSTER MUNCH

In a large bowl combine the pretzels, Cheerios, Corn Chex, peanuts, M&M’s and candy corn. Stir to combine then set aside. In a microwave-safe bowl, heat white chips and oil for 30 seconds. Stir and microwave for another 30 seconds or until completely melted. Stir until smooth.

Pour melted chocolate over the cereal mixture and stir until it’s all coated evenly. Sprinkle the top with Halloween sprinkles (if desired.) Serve in baggies or handfuls after chocolate has set.

CAN I TAKE OUT THE PEANUTS IF SOMEONE HAS AN ALLERGY?

Yes! If you, or someone you know has an allergy to peanuts then you can omit them from the recipe. When we host our annual party, I will sometimes make two separate batches that are labeled. This way there is no confusion, and no one gets sick.

IS THERE ANYWAY I CAN MAKE THIS TREAT SPOOKIER?

If you are feeling especially experimental this year, and want to lean into the theme of Halloween, try dying your white chocolate red! This will make it resemble thick and dripping blood all the munch mix. This would make Dracula extra proud. After you melt your chocolate add just a few drops of red food dye and mix before coating the snacks. This will add a new and scary layer to your party snack.

HOW LONG DOES MONSTER MUNCH KEEP?

If your little spooks don’t eat all this treat, don’t worry! Keep this covered and stored in the fridge and you’ll be able to munch on it for up to 5 days. Sometimes when I am getting ready for a party, I’ll make sure to make extra so that we have enough to snack on throughout the week. This is a treat that I only make seasonally, so I like to make sure we have enough to enjoy while the season lasts.

  1. 5 stars
I made the moster munch snack mix for my co-workers. they loved it! can’t go wrong with a crunchy, sweet and salty snack.

    1. It helps to thin out the chocolate when it melts, and helps coat the other ingredients better. Not sure if it’s required with candy melts. I would look at the package directions when melting those 🙂
