Here in the sunny desert of Southern Utah we are soaring in the 100 degree temps, so it’s crucial to stay cool while basking in the sunshine. My Lemon Berry Slush is just the thing to cool you down on these extra warm days. This drink is filled with fruity flavor and is so refreshing!

WHAT IS LEMON BERRY SLUSH?

This recipe is a copycat from one of my favorite drink spots, Sonic. Frozen strawberries are blended with orange juice, fresh lemon juice, lime juice and sugar. That’s all you need to whip up this fun drink!

On our many summer days by the pool, I would load everyone up in my car and drive us over to Sonic to get a frosty beverage. When we all started ordering this drink, I knew it was time to come up with my own Lemon Berry Slush recipe.

INGREDIENTS TO MAKE LEMON BERRY SLUSH

  • Frozen Strawberries (fresh strawberries are great too)
  • Orange Juice
  • Lemon Juice
  • Lime Juice
  • Granulated Sugar
  • Cold Water

HOW DO I MAKE LEMON BERRY SLUSH?

A high powered blender is important when blending frozen fruit, so keep that in mind. If you don’t have a high powered blender then thaw the frozen berries in the fridge for a few hours before making this yummy slush. Fresh strawberries also work well!

Now pour all of the ingredients inside the blender. Cover with the lid and blend until it reaches a smooth texture. Pour into glasses and serve immediately. Be prepared to play bartender all day long because everyone is sure to fall in love with these and want more!

DO I HAVE TO USE THE SUGAR IN THIS RECIPE?

I recommend the granulated sugar to bring the fruit flavor alive, but if you want to cut the sugar amount down a bit you sure can! To have a lower calorie or ‘skinny’ option just remove the sugar completely. The drink will still be bright, fruity, and perfect for any warm day.

FROZEN STRAWBERRIES

Using frozen strawberries means you can make this wonderful slush any time of the year!

HOW MANY SERVINGS DOES THIS RECIPE MAKE?

Each batch will make 4 servings.

CAN YOU ADD ALCOHOL?

For those of you that enjoy an ‘adult beverage’ this is a great recipe to use. The spirit bases that I recommend are vodka, clear rum or clear tequila. They pair with the strawberries the best! As far as measurements go, I recommend 1 to 1.5 ounces of liquor per serving. Always remember that if you’re adding alcohol to drink responsibly and keep the kids far away from that batch.

CAN I USE ANY OTHER TYPE OF FRUIT?

Of course! If there is a particular fruit that you enjoy in a frosted drink I say add it to the mixture! Some other frozen fruits that would go great are blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, or mango.
