If you like meals you can make in advance then that’s just one more thing to love about this casserole. It can be prepared up until the baking point. Instead of baking, cover it tightly with saran wrap or tinfoil. Place in the fridge up to 24 hours before baking. When you’re ready for it, just pop it in the oven, uncovered, for about 30 minutes or until warmed through. 🙂

Get ready for everyone to love this dish. It is definitely a favorite at my house!

ALTERNATIVES

Condensed soup- not a fan of canned cream soups? Try my Homemade Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup! It is delicious. Keep in mind you will only need twenty ounces of it.

More greens– instead of serving a side of veggies, why not toss it right in the casserole? Green beans, peas or broccoli are all great options.

Creamier- you can add in sour cream, Greek yogurt or milk to give this an even creamier consistency.

Vegetarian- this casserole can easily be made meatless. Substitute the chicken for mushrooms and you will be in heaven!

This was delicious. I did find the fried onions blackened a little more in the oven than i liked, but it was a hIt with the family! I’ll definitely put this in the rotation!

I added some additional seasoning and doubled the crispy onions (we really like the crunch) Per the review Before mine – i baked 10 minutes and then added the onions on top for last 10. Amazing!
